and i stood there
to his all too fleeting
serenade
this sunset was different than
some nights
before
pearlescent yellow stroked
across the hazy sky
rain clouds loomed to the
north
not to disrupt the eve
an afternoon drowned in caffeine
staring mindlessly at a glowing screen
but drawn back out to my familiar block
cheeks burning from a morning
of sun and pending possibility
exchanging giggles while above
blazed of reds and orange in
shapes we had never
seen
stories of days future and
past
soaking up the enormity
swirls and ribbons of fantastical
array
a progression of color
a dabble in wisdom
